The Effect of Three Types of Military Boots’ Mileage on Knee Muscular Co-Contraction During Running
Authors
Abstract:
Purpose: Military boots’ mileage is a main factor that can be influence the risk of sustaining injuries during running. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of three types of military boots’ mileage on knee muscular co-contraction during running. Methods: Fifteen healthy males received three new pairs of military boots. They were asked to wear these shoes for over 6 months. Electromyography activity of lower limb muscles was recorded during running at constant speed during pre- and post-intervention. Then, knee muscular co-contraction was calculated. Results: Results showed a significant increase during loading response (P=0.030, n2p=0.157) and push off (P=0.008, n2p=0.302) phases for general knee co-contraction at post-test compared to the pre-test. Also, directed mediolateral knee co-contraction showed a significant increment during mid-stance (P=0.028, n2p=0.040) and push off (P=0.039, n2p=0.115) phases at post-test compared to the pre-test. Conclusion: Overall, it could be concluded that knee joint instability while using Polyurethane thermoplastic is greater than that using Polyurethane boots. Also, our results demonstrated that maintaining knee stability in anterior-posterior direction while using Polyurethane thermoplastic is better than that using Polyurethane boots.

The Effect of Exhaustive Protocol on Knee Muscle Co-contraction in Healthy People and with a Pronated Foot during Running
Background and Aim: Fatigue and abnormalities in the lower extremities, such as the pronated foot, can adversely affect the biomechanics of human movements such as running, leading to a lack of muscle contraction and unstable symptoms in the joints of the lower extremities (knees). Therefore, the main purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of exhaustive protocol on knee muscle co-c...
full textThe effect of knee orthosis on co-contraction values of knee and ankle muscles during running in people with knee deformity in the frontal plane.
Background and Aims: the use of knee orthosis changes the mechanics of running. One of the important biomechanical factors in rehabilitation and injury prevention is co-contraction of knee and ankle joints. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of knee orthosis on changes in the contraction of knee and ankle muscles during running in people with genu varum. Mat...

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
